Technology

  • Quiet drive system: Fluid, natural motion functions in both forward and reverse. The combination of a heavy, 34-pound flywheel and high gear ratio equates to an extremely smooth feel.
  • Power incline: Additional resistance and variable positions mean a diverse, challenging cardio workout with the touch of a button. The ramp angle is fully adjustable from 0 to 30 degrees, allowing you to target and individually work all major lower body muscle groups.
  • Advanced sensor systems: Stationary handle bars with built-in pulse sensors for monitoring your heart rate and a heart rate chest strap are great for ongoing pulse monitoring, and heart rate interactive programs.
  • Custom foot pedals: Pedals were designed in collaboration with a leading physical therapist, and SOLE SOLE engineers have created a two-degree inward slope to the foot pedals, reducing ankle and knee stress common in many elliptical machines. The foot beds are also adjustable for customized comfort.
  • Articulating pedals: Not everyone walks the same, which is why SOLE designed pedals that articulate to fit your stride. This feature also reduces the “numb toe effect” and sore Achilles tendons.
  • Four rear wheels on heavy-duty rails: The design ensures a smoother, more stable feel, and reduce side-to-side foot pedal motion.

I’m loving this elliptical I’ve never owned an elliptical. However, I have used Precor in the gym before. I looked at many brands, reviews and specs and many different web sites to research my purchase. For the price and features and reviews this seemed the best fit for me. And I’ve not been disappointed. The best part of this machine is how quiet it is! I also love the fact that it has adjustable peddles to help minimize toe numbness. The drink holder is slanted forward so I had to find a different water bottle (it did come with one too), but it’s easy to reach, so that’s nice. The display is easy to read and very user friendly. I’m only 5’2″ and the machine is rather large. I have to step up onto it. The arm bars are fine but I can’t use the outter handles or reach the handle incline or level adjustments. Not a big deal, I just make my adjustments on the display. The fan is nice, not very powerful, but better than no fan at all! I like that I can plug in my IPod and play music from the built…

Great Build – Great Feel – Crappy Extras! What sold me was the build quality and the solid, smooth feel when using it. I went to Sears to do some testing, so I jumped from one machine to the other. This unit was by far the best is the sub $2,000 range. I ended up ordering it from SOLE’s website. I recieved the unit in a couple of days. It took about 3-1/2 hrs to unbox and set the unit up (by myself). My complaints (and why I did’t give it a 5 star rating) is:1. The hardware (bolts, washers, etc.) are not the best quality. They skimped on the washers and have you only putting washers on one side in most places. This leads to ugly looking scratched paint when bolt turns. Washers bend and cause metal (frame) under them start to cave in when tightening. Metric size hex heads and (possibly undersized – cheap from China?) causes wrenches to slip off (rounding bolt/nut heads).2. They really didn’t provide the best option to set your iPod/MP3 player, etc. Blocks view of LCD (stupid!).3. Speakers…

Mostly good, some noise problems, 3.5 stars I’ve had this machine for a month, and I’ve been using it at least 5 times a week.Unfortunately, the con first: there is a clicking noise coming from the point where the two handlebars attach to the “neck” of the device (the part that has the console at the top). In the product picture, you can see the rather large plastic covers over that joint. I have made sure that the bolts are tight, twice. The noise is puzzling because that joint is just a cylinder, but when the handlebars are moved back and forth during a workout, I feel a slight movement in that joint and that’s what’s making the noise. I’m not sure whether this is a design problem or a manufacturing problem, but it is somewhat annoying to have to listen to this constant clicking noise during an entire workout – even while wearing ear-canal iPod earphones. The good: the machine does provide a pretty good workout, and the built-in programs provide a good variety & the 20 levels of resistance and 20 levels…
